progress…

This week has been an interesting week to say the least.  Some of the plans I had for the week happened smoothly and wonderfully and others, well let’s just say didn’t go according to plan.   This week at YHBC was the yearly summer work camp, with groups coming from around the U.S. to do various work projects at the camp and in the community.  At the Rec Center we had a great group of guys from MI and IN who came and took down one of the really ugly outside walls that consisted of various colored, rusted, and types of metal.  They then insulated the walls and hung up brand new white metal siding.   That side of the building now looks 100 times better and we couldn’t be happier.  The work crew also tore out the old unsafe railing on the Rec Center porch and put up some new railing made of treated lumber that is so much safer and looks so much more professional.   Truly thankful for this group of Godly guys with such a servants heart that did so much work for us, including inside electrical work that really needed to be done.

As I mentioned the other night we had been planning on one of the work groups coming over to help paint the nursery and some other areas of the house.  This is the part that didn’t go according to plan, but that God still worked out wonderfully.   The original paint crew that was supposed to come never showed up…don’t really know why, but  they never did.  However, Sarah, a young lady who worked at the camp this summer came over and helped Erin tape off the rooms and then proceeded to paint the nursery and various other areas.   Erin and I are so thankful for all of her help this week and are so thankful that our nursery is now painted and ready for us to start setting up for the baby.   Also during this week a group that we weren’t even expecting was able to come over and help clean out our basement, organizing and really making it look fantastic.   Another true blessing that God provided this week.

I was also very thankful this week that I was able to catch up with a good friend from my Moody days, Dan Baughman.   Dan was able to bring his youth group to work at the work week.  While I wasn’t able to hang out with him as much as I would have liked to this week, it was so great to be able to spend some time catching up with him.  It’s also awesome to see how God has taken people I know from Moody and placed them in amazing ministries and really see their heart for God.

As you can tell there have been some ups and downs, but the ups were truly amazing and we are so very thankful and blessed.

In closing, I wanted to share something very funny that happened this week.  While Sarah was helping paint at our house our dogs were totally mesmerized by what she was doing.  While they watched her, Erin was able to snap this picture of them.
