Reds game…

Last night I had the opportunity to do something I have not done in about 5 years, I went to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game.  I had been given some free tickets so myself and three other guys went to Cincinnati to enjoy the Reds vs. Pirates.  The Great American Ballpark where the Reds play is a beautiful facility.  The concourses are really wide so you don’t feel claustrophobic and all the vendors are really easy to get to.  I don’t know if I was just hungry or what, but I think I may have enjoyed one of my best hotdogs ever last night at the game.  I also got to enjoy my normal baseball game favorite of peanuts and coke.

The seats I was given were excellent.  We were on the lower level, close to the field, just one section over from first base.  The players were easy to see and the game easy to watch from our view.  Staying focused was a must in our area as it was prime for foul balls.  Unfortunately the only foul balls that came our way were ones way over our heads so that there was no way I was going to be bringing a ball back to Beattyville.

The game was definitely a small ball kind of game.  There were no booming home runs or anything close.  Singles and base running were what brought the Reds a 2 -1 victory and moved them 11.5 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the MLB Central Division.  The play of the night had to be an awesome snag Brandon Phillips made to save a single into right field!

I also really enjoyed the chance to hang out with the guys.  Between work and family that doesn’t happen that much any more.  So to have a nice night away goofing off and enjoying baseball was great.

If you are ever able to go to a Cincinnati Reds game I highly recommend it.   The park is beautiful, food great, and it’s just an all around good time!
