Giving Tuesday - FB Image square - option EThe next week is going to be a busy time for everyone as Thanksgiving is approaching fast. Over the years the days after Thanksgiving have all been given various consumer/business based names in an attempt to kick off the Christmas buying season. On Friday and in some places Thursday, things get going with Black Friday. On Saturday people are encouraged to shop local and get out for Small Business Saturday. Lastly on Monday, you have Cyber Monday where you can find all those good deals online! However, have you heard of Giving Tuesday?

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is now known as Giving Tuesday. It’s a day designed to move past all the consumerism that takes place right after Thanksgiving and for us to look to various charities, ministries, and other ways we can give to help out. It’s a really great opportunity to give back.

This year we would like to ask you to consider joining in supporting our ministry with FCA on Giving Tuesday. You can click on the link on the right hand side of our page and be taken to our myFCA page where you can set up a one time or automatic monthly gift. As we stated in our previous post we are currently at about 70% of our committed support goal. Please pray about helping us reach full 100% by becoming a monthly partner on our Home Team. Maybe you are unable to join us in a monthly way, would you please pray about becoming an annual donor or at least giving a year end gift on Giving Tuesday? If you would rather not give online, but would like to give please let us know and we will get you that information right away. And the good news is you can join us before and after Giving Tuesday as well!!!

2013 FCA Leadership Camp Update – Down to Gas Money!!!

relentless-ppt-frontWe are inching closer and closer to time to go to FCA Leadership Camp and God has truly blessed with our fundraising efforts.  As I reported last week we finally raised enough to pay for everyone’s camp fees.  We are still however, working on still getting the money to pay for gas to get us to camp and back.  Each of us going are trying to raise another $20 for a total $180 to pay fuel expenses.  If you would like to help with this expense please feel free to contact me.  Please keep praying for our students that God would prepare their hearts for camp and that they would be seeking Him daily as they prepare for camp!

This week I have begun to go around our town and visit area businesses and members of our community to invite them to our annual Golf Scramble fundraiser.   I am specifically trying to find people who will sponsor a hole at our scramble for on $25.   With this sponsorship we advertise you on the hole, at the clubhouse, and in the local newspaper.   This scramble gives us an opportunity to raise funds especially for our fitness center which is need of some fixes and some new equipment.  If you don’t golf and don’t want to sponsor, we also have a big cookout at the golf course with huge hamburgers, hot dogs, and polish sausages!   If you are interested in golfing or sponsoring check out our flyer and contact me soon.   If nothing else come join s for some good food!

last night’s FCA Leadership Camp Presentation Update…

Last night, our FCA students presented their desire to attend FCA Leadership Camp to Idamay Bible Church.  We entered the night about $500 short of being able to pay for all six students to attend camp.  Our students did a great job of presenting and I was very proud of them a I know how nerve wracking it has been over the past two weeks to stand up in churches and speak in front of so many people.   God truly blessed us and we received the $500 we need to take all six students to camp.  When you add that in with all the donations we have been given so far as well as a promised sponsorship our kids are ready to go to FCA Leadership Camp at Campbellsville University!

That being said, now comes the hard part.  Please pray for Erin and I as we are now trying to raise the needed $250 for our family to attend camp.  Just like the students we will be receiving training to lead our FCA huddles during the upcoming school year.  It is also just a great time of spiritual refreshment for us and we are taught and poured into spiritually through great messages and fellowship with others in full time sports ministry!   Please pray that God will provide this money and take that burden from us!

To all of you have already been praying for our students and also have given to our students, thank you!  I am confident that God is going to do great things in their life at camp this summer!

FCA Leadership Camp fundraising update….

We are still working on reaching our goal of raising enough money to take all 6 of our FCA students to Leadership camp at the end of June.  Currently we still hope to raise about $1,300 total, but have to have $600 raised by the 14th of June when I send in our registration forms.

On May 13th during the evening service our students and I will be presenting at Bear Track Bible church at 7pm.  The very next weekend on the 20th at 7 pm we will be presenting at Idamay Bible Church.  If you aren’t sure about what all the students will be doing and getting from attending this Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership camp, please try to come to one of these services and here straight from our students about what camp means to them.

I know we have a great God who can help this needed funding come in!  So pray that it would come, and come soon, and what your part in this might be!!!

Help!!! We need your desserts!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about trying to raise funds to take our local high school students to FCA Leadership camp this summer.  The cost is about $225 a student and it looks as though we are going to have 4 to 6 students going as well as my family going as chaperones.  We still have not gotten any sponsors so far, but I am confident that God will provide the money for this amazing opportunity for our students to grow in their faith.

This coming Saturday, April 21st the Lee County Rec. Center will be holding it’s annual Invitational Bowling Tournament.  It is by far the biggest tournament that the Rec Center runs, and its this captive audience that we want to hopefully get to help us with sending our students to Leadership Camp.  During the tournament we will be hosting a dessert auction to try and raise the funds necessary for students to go to camp this summer.   Besides just desserts we will be having donation jugs out as well that tell about camp and encourage people to donate.

So how can you help???  Glad you asked!  We need people to bring in desserts to auction at the tournament.  Cakes, cookies, pies, or whatever baked goodies you can bring would be much appreciated.  All funds will go directly to paying a students camp fee.   I will be to the Rec Center by 11:30 am on Saturday morning and if you could drop your dessert off between then and 1 pm we would greatly appreciate it.  Also, feel free to bid on the desserts and tell others about the auction.   Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
