so close…

fundraisingSo close, so very close.  That is where my wife and I are on our fundraising journey with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  So very close to reaching our monthly support goal.

As most of you know we joined staff with FCA in the summer of 2016 and life has pretty much been a whirlwind since then.  We have definitely had some emotional ups and downs over the past two and half years with cancer, autism, celiac disease, car issues, and fundraising issues all hitting us over the course of that time.  In each of these situations though we have seen God work.  We have been amazed by his faithfulness as we have seen cancer taken away, therapies for autism, and great adjustment to the new lifestyle of being gluten free for Celiac disease.

Financially things have been tight due to our support level needing to be higher than it was for our previous ministry, more cost of living expenses with the move and kids getting older, medical issues, loss of some major support team members, and much more.  Throughout this time though, even though our support has not been at 100% we have seen over and over God work and provide for our family through the generosity of friends, family, and even faithful followers who we don’t even know.  We have truly been blessed and provided for.

As we approach the end of 2018 we are close than ever to reaching our monthly support goal of being fully funded.  We currently sit at only $290 a month from being at our support goal.  We are praying that in the next two months, God will provide the monthly or annual support partners needed to be fully funded.  Being fully funded means a weight would be taken off of us and we would be free to just go and serve.  Please join us in prayer that we would reach this goal by 2019.  Also, please pray about if you know anyone we can talk to about partnering with us that you could connect us to.  Lastly, pray about whether or not God would be leading you to join with us.  There is a link on the this blog where you can join our support team or feel free to contact me personally for more information.

Thank you for your prayers!

getting started and raising support…

fca_logo1Yesterday was interesting…for the first time in years I was no longer on staff with Kentucky Mountain Mission.  I am so thankful for all the years that God gave me with KMM and all the great things that I was able to see God Today is my first official day of being on staff with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  I am excited to see what God is going to do in me an through me while working with FCA.

For my first month with FCA my main responsibility is trying to raise the rest of our needed financial support.  I am busy right now calling people, emailing, and messaging them to set up support appointments where I can share about our ministry.  I am excited to share about all the cool opportunities God is giving us with FCA and hopefully see others catch the vision God has given us too and join our Home support team.

If you are interested in finding out more about what my wife and I are going to be doing with FCA please let me know and we can set up a time to get together.  If you already know you want to join our support team you can start by going to http://www.my.fca.org …..Once there just look up my name Andy Owens and you can sign up to join our support team!  No matter what, please keep us in your prayers this month!

2015 Leadership Camp Fundraising Update…

Last year's leadership team @ 2014 Leadership Camp

Last year’s leadership team @ 2014 Leadership Camp

On Monday night we met with part of our leadership team that will be attending FCA’s Leadership Camp at Campbellsville University.  In total we need to raise around $1,900 to cover camp fees and travel costs.  As of Monday night we now have $880 raised!  Our students are still busy writing letters to potential supporters, setting up times to talk to their churches, and speaking to family members about support.  I would like to once again ask you to be praying for us as we try to raise this last half of our needed funds, and also to ask you to consider helping our students financially.  You’re prayers and generosity will have a great impact on our students spiritual lives.  We have seen over the year’s how God uses Leadership Camp to grow our students in their relationship with Him and come back ready to do great things to reach their schools for Christ.  We have no doubt with this young group of students that we are taking to camp this year, that God will do the same.  Please consider partnering with us to see what God does with our students!

Sponsors Needed for FCA Leadership Camp.

This is a repost from our ministry website http://www.andyanderin.net.  We are trying to get the word out to as many people as possible about the need for Leadership Camp sponsors and so we thought we would share this again.  Please pray and consider sponsoring a camper!!!

UnDefeated-Logos_3_legacyIt’s that time of year again where Erin and I (Andy) are busy getting our FCA Leadership team together for next school year and also preparing them to go to this summer’s National FCA Leadership Camp a Campbellsville University. This year our camp theme is UnDefeated and come from the book of 1 Corinthians 15:57, which talks about how as believers we have complete victory in Christ. At camp student’s will be taught how to serve Christ and live undefeated lives for Him. We pray that God will use this week to train them to be bold in their faith and possibly consider future full time ministry.

We are excited this year for both camp and our new leadership team as we will be pretty much starting over from las year’s team. The class of students we have worked with on our leadership team the past few years is graduating next week. So the team we are putting together for next year will be 8th grade leaders at LCMS next year and some will be Freshman coming into our LCHS Huddle. Two students that are going went with us last year to camp and we have seen great growth in their lives at last year’s leadership camp and then through helping in their huddles this year. We are excited to see them step up into even more of a leadership role this year.

One of the biggest things with FCA Leadership Camp that we face every year is the needed funds to take our students to camp. It costs $225 per student to attend and then we have fuel and travel expenses on top of that. Currently we need to raise enough money for six students to attend camp, and another $310 for my family to go too. While the students are in their leadership training sessions, Erin and I attend classes and training sessions as well. They also have a mini-day camp for Maeven and Judah to attend so that we can participate.

Our students have been busy sending out letters to supporters to raise money for them to attend camp and so far most are doing well. We have a couple though that really need more help than what their letters are providing for them. Would you please consider helping support our students and our family as we go to FCA Leadership Camp this summer. At the moment we are are about $1,400 short of the total we need to raise for camp and travel fees. Please pray for our students and if you would like to support our Lee County FCA Leadership team to go to camp this summer please send your support to:

Lee County FCA – 160 Ratliff Ridge RD – Beattyville, KY 41311

This camp is life changing for our students and their relationship with Christ. Won’t you be part of this life change?

getting closer to the golf tournament…

01. Golf_Tournamet_Flyer2 copyIn just two short weeks we will be having our annual Lee Co. Rec Center Golf Tournament fundraiser.  I know I have already blogged about it once or twice, but as we get closer we really need your support!  We still need teams to sign up for this event and plenty of people to just come out and show their support for the Rec Center.  Please join me in praying these next two weeks for great weather and a great turn out!  Also, please pray about how you might participate in this event.  The Lee Co. Rec Center needs your support!

Golf Fundraiser time…

01. Golf_Tournamet_Flyer2 copyIt’s that time of year where I am getting ready for the Lee County Recreational Center’s biggest fundraiser, our Golf tournament on May 9th!  If you notice I said Golf Tournament and not Scramble this year.  For 2015 we are doing something different by moving our fundraiser to Sag Hollow Golf Club in Booneville, KY.  With this move we are able to guarantee we will have carts for everyone involved and therefore we don’t have to scramble the teams to make sure  no one walks.  With this being the case we are able to open our event to more people who would like to bring full teams to compete.  This year we are also trying to get businesses to enter teams into our event or to sponsor teams for those who can’t afford to golf on their own.  The cost of the tournament is $200 a team, but we are also having a cash prizes this year too!  For lunch this year we will once again be having a cookout from noon to 2 pm.  As always we will have lots of burgers, hot dogs, sausages, and plenty of homemade desserts.  The cost of lunch is just whatever you would like to donate to the Rec Center!  You don’t have to be in the Golf Tournament to come eat with us, anyone is welcome to join us!

So how can you help?  First and foremost please pray for us!  As I have shared before the Rec Center is in serious need of financial help to keep our various ministries going.  Pray that God will use this event to generate some much needed income.  Next pray about what role God would have you play in this event.  Perhaps you can put a team together or sponsor some teens who would like to play but need help with their entry fee?  Maybe you know a business or people who would be interested in sponsoring teams and you could encourage them to do so!  Please help us by spreading the word about this fundraiser.  At the bottom of this post is a pdf of our flyer, please print copies and share with friends you think might come and help us!  We need your prayers, your support, and your attendance for this event.  Please join us!

Leadership Camp Fundraising Update – May 20, 2014

All_In_BlackGod has truly been blessing our fundraising efforts for going to camp this summer.   Almost everyone has raised enough money to pay their camp registration fees!!!  We are praying for about $200 or more to come in so that all the cost of transportation to and from camp and meals on the way to and from camp will be covered.  Our students have been busy sending support letters and speaking in their home churches to raise funds.  They have also been participating in a weekly Bible study at our house.  It’s been awesome to see how they are growing in their walk with Christ and taking ownership of raising their own funds for camp this year.  To those of you who have already partnered with us financially and prayerfully we thank you.  If you haven’t done so already and would like to help support our students please let us know.  Thank you so much!
