Sorry for the lack of blogs this week, but some much needed family time has been taken. And in honor of that family time I would like to share some photos of the two cutest children ever, my daughter Maeven and my son Judah! I will be back on Monday with some new thoughts and updates. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Today was a special day for our family as Judah had his Baby dedication at our church, Emmanuel Baptist in Stanton, KY. During the dedication our pastor addressed the congregation and basically affirmed what Erin and I knew, this wasn’t a baby dedication as much as it was a Family Dedication. A dedication where we were dedicating ourselves to train up Judah to know who Christ is, how much he is loved by Jesus, and to see us honoring Christ in every area of our lives. The church also pledged to dedicate themselves to helping us in this task as well. Erin and I are both thankful for having parents who love the Lord and we wanted to make this public pledge to be parents that point our kids to Christ. Please pray for us as we try to be Godly parents and leaders for both Maeven and Judah. Pray that they will accept Christ at an early age and have a growing thriving relationship with Him. I pray that God will use our children mightily for His Kingdom and can’t wait to see what He has in store for them.
My baby boy Judah is a smiler. From day one he has had a cute dimple in his right cheek and as he has gotten older it has become more and more prominent. One of his favorite things is for myself and him to have a conversation. Usually he will start out slowly smiling, but once I ask him if he is cute or adorable he lets out a big giggle and their comes the biggest cutest smile you have ever seen on an infant.
On Tuesday afternoon we took a family grocery and supply trip to Lexington. Both of the kids did excellent job of going in and out of stores and being happy. As we were nearing the end of the day we made a quick trip to Target. Erin took Maeven to look at some shoes while I took Judah to the other end of the store to get some much needed diapers. On the way he was starting to squirm and get fussy a little bit, so I began one of our conversations getting him smiling. From their I began singing one of his favorite song choruses “Tell Me Baby,” at which point he let out a big laugh and one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen on him. I am so thankful to have such a laid back happy little dude for my son!
So, moral of the story, if you see Judah out ask him if he is cute and adorable, or sing the chorus of “Tell Me Baby,” and you will see a big, cute, dimply smile!
Last summer my wife and I got the cutest little poodle ever, a black and white parti we named Snoopy. Our goal was to breed him for schnoodles with our mini-schnauzer Nixie. However, the house we were living in at the time was too small to add a third dog and so my in-laws agreed to keep him until we could move into our new house. Being the adorable and kid friendly dog that he is, they fell in love with him and his homecoming was pushed back until after Judah’s birth and then indefinitely. Snoopy is so friendly and loves playing with Maeven and so I have really been wanting to get him back. Today, my wife called and made my day by letting me know we get to bring him home this weekend. Can’t wait for my little buddy’s return!
For the past week or so, Erin and I have noticed that Judah has had some dry skin/rash type stuff on his forehead. Then in the past weekend it spread into his eyebrows, cheeks, and even a little around his ears. So today Erin took him to the doctor to make sure he didn’t have any major skin issue. The good news it the doctor said that it is just cradle cap and that he should be fine with some basic treatments. The even better news is that cradle cap doesn’t really last past the first four months of life, so this will not be a life long battle for Judah. Even though this is just a little something it was awesome to see how God has answered prayer and protected our baby boy when we were worried. I am thankful for my Judah, and so very thankful for my powerful God!
Judah Andrew Owens was born at 12:33 pm today March 19, 2012. He weighed in at 9 pounds and 1 ounce. Judah is 21 1/2 inches long and his head measures 14 1/2 inches and chest 14 inches. I know many have been wondering, but Judah does not have red hair. he has curly dark brown hair. Both Judah and his mommy are doing great and are trying to catch up on some rest after a very eventful day. Please pray that all will go well and that Erin and Judah may head home on Wednesday or Thursday. We are truly blessed with our newest gift from God!
Today we went to Erin’s weekly check up to see how Judah is progressing. Last night Erin began having some contractions so we were concerned that we might end up delivering tonight. Dr. Smith verified that Erin has been having contractions, but things have not progressed enough to have the c-section yet. Judah might not arrive until his due date on the 19th, but could come any moment too. So, we are back home tonight waiting to see what happens!
