tired but thankful…

getting the students ready to hear from our speaker...

getting the students ready to hear from our speaker…

This past Friday night we held our annual Fall Teen Lock-In at the Lee County Recreational Center.  130 teens came out to this outreach and had a great night of bowling, games, movies, and lots of fun.  Most importantly though, KMM Missionary Mark Coburn shared a devotion with the students where the Gospel was very clearly presented.  Please join us in praying that we will be able to follow up with our students and that the seed that were planted during the lock-in will see many teens accept Christ as Savior!

Also, please be praying for myself and all the staff who gave of their time for this outreach.  I know personally I was blessed with plenty of energy to make it through the night, but now two days later I am really feeling sluggish and wiped out.  Pray that we will have plenty of energy for all that is going on this week and in the coming weeks!

Our lock-ins are a great opportunity to reach our local teens for Christ.  We have another coming up on New Year’s eve and would love for you to join us as a chaperone!  Start resting up now so you can join us December 31st!

another lock-in is around the corner…

lock-inHere at the Rec Center it’s almost time for our first all night teen lock-in of the school year. On October 31st we are expecting between 150 to 250 teens to come out from 10pm that night until 6 am the next morning for a fun filled night of bowling, games, prizes, food, and most importantly a Gospel presentation. Normally, I would post about this event the week of and ask you to be praying, but this time I am hitting you up for prayer and consideration much earlier. Our lock-ins are by far our largest teen outreaches that we have. Unfortunately, with each lock-in it is getting harder and harder to find volunteers to help chaperone all night through. Without these volunteers it’s hard to put on this outreach. We need solid adults who care for our students to help us with this large of a project. So, I am asking you to begin praying right now that God will provide plenty of quality help for this lock-in. Also, begin praying if you might be able to come donate the whole night or half of the night to help reach our local students. God is going to do something great through this outreach and we hope and pray you will be a part of it!

End of School Teen Lock-In

02. 2014 End of School Lock-INMany of you had been praying for our Golf Scramble fundraiser last weekend and I wanted to let you know how much we appreciated that.  God gave us a beautiful day for golf and everyone had a great time.  We were down a few golfers this year, but God blessed through some very generous sponsors!   Please continue to pray for us as we seek to raise money and get our air conditioning back up and running for this very hot summer that is coming.

This week though, we are gearing up for our End of School Teen Lock-In!!! On Friday night starting at 10 pm and going till 6am in the morning, we will be packed with 7th-12th graders.  Students will enjoy a fun night of cosmic bowling, bowling, ping pong and pool tournaments, karaoke, movies, and much more.  About half way through the night we will shut down everything and a guest speaker will share the Gospel with our students.   Please start praying with us for this event.  Pray that many students will come out.  Pray that we will have enough chaperones and helpers throughout the entire night.  Pray for our speaker that they will communicate the truth of God’s Word effectively to our students.  And most importantly, please pray for our students that they will have soft hearts and that many will make the decision to give their lives to Christ!

Lastly, please consider coming to join us for this outreach as a chaperone!  As our staff gets older we appreciate those who have a heart for our students and would help us with this fun event.  Hope to see you Friday night!!!

Update on our Pre-Teen Lock-In

Last week I asked you to be praying for our Pre-Teen Lock-In outreach that was held this past Saturday night.  We had a lower turn out with only 29 students in the 3rd-6th grades who attended.  While the numbers were low, the students had a great time bowling, playing games, and watching a movie.  As always our main point of this outreach is to share Jesus.  My mom Dawn Owens did a great job sharing the devotion with the students and they were excellent listeners.  Below is the video of her devotion if you would like to check it out.  Thank you so much for praying and please continue to pray for the students, that the message of Christmas they heard will penetrate their hearts and they would give their lives to Christ!

getting rested up and needing prayer…

Fall_Lock_In_FlyerThis week is a big one for us, as we are getting ready for our annual fall teen lock-in outreach at the Rec Center.  This coming Friday night from 10 pm to 6 am on Saturday morning.  In the past we have had between 150 to 250 7th-12th graders attend.  The students will get a fun night of games, bowling, cosmic bowling, food, fun and much more.  Our main reason for the outreach is that about half way through the night we have a guest speaker who will share Jesus with our students.  Between the speaker and our staff mingling with students throughout the night we hope that many will give their lives to Christ.  Please be in prayer this week that all our staff will get much needed rest before the lock-in, pray that we will have enough adult volunteers to help chaperone our students, and most of all pray that God will begin working in the lives of our students even now and that their hearts will be soft and open to the Gospel during this outreach.  I can’t wait to see what God is going to do and appreciate your prayers, and if you so choose, help chaperoniing!

trying to wake up…

tiredmanWell, I am trying to get going this morning and yet I am still feeling the effects of our Teen Lock-In this past Friday night.  While I am still pretty exhausted, I am so thrilled about how our night went.  We had 104 teenagers come out and really had no real problems at all.  There were the usual couples that we had to tell to leave a little distance between them, but if that’s the only real problem, I can handle it.   KMM missionary Scott Brandenburg presented a very clear Gospel presentation to the students, and they really listened well.  Be praying that God will take the message Scott shared and use it to draw the students to Him.  Pray that we will have more opportunities to follow up with the students and continue to share the love of Christ with them.   And last but not least, pray for myself and the rest of our staff to be able to get much needed rest  and to recoup quickly!

up all night…

2013_End_of_School_Lock-INTonight we are having our End of School Teen Lock-In at the Rec Center and are expecting around a hundred 7th-12th grade students to join us.  Throughout the night we will have bowling, cosmic bowling, games, prizes, karaoke, and much more for the students to enjoy.  As always though, our main focus is on sharing Christ with these students.  KMM Missionary Scott Brandenburg will be sharing a devotional with the students about 1 am where he will share the Gospel.  Please pray that students will be open to the message and that Scott will be used by God to reach the students.  We are still in need of chaperones for this event and would love to have you join us!  If you can’t join us, please join us in prayer for needed staff, for lots of energy, and most importantly that students will give their lives to Christ!
