On Monday at the Rec Center we began Camp Mighty Warrior a vbs day camp outreach put on by a missions team from Texas. The day camp runs through Friday this week and on Monday over 40 local kids attended. Many of the kids who attended come from unchurched families and for many this might even be the first time that they have heard the Gospel. Last year several students who attended a vbs put on by this same missions team accepted Christ as their personal savior. We are excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of the kids this year and are praying that many will accept Christ as their personal savior. Please be praying for the kids that their hearts will be softened and open to the Gospel. Pray for all of the missions team to have wisdom and guidance as they deal with the kids. Pray for us as we invite students and do follow up after the VBS. If you live locally be sure and send your kids to the Lee County Rec. Center this week for Camp Mighty Warrior!
Well, this is the big week! On Thursday our FCA Leadership Team heads out to Campbellsville University for FCA Leadership Camp. Tonight we have one final meeting with our students to get ready. We will go over all the final details on what the students have to bring and what they should expect at camp and then spend some time in prayer together before heading out on Thursday. We are expecting God to do some great things this week in the lives of our students and we appreciate all your prayers that you have prayed so far and ask you to keep praying for us this week. A big thanks to all of you who have contributed financially to helping our students go to camp this summer. Without you this trip wouldn’t have been possible. We are still hoping to raise a little more money this week to help pay for fuel expenses. If you would like to help with this, please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you again for all your prayers and support. I will do updates from camp this week to let you know how things are going!
Last night we began the 1st of 4 home games that will help draw our middle school basketball season to a close with only 1 road game remaining after them. This season has definitely been a learning experience on everything from working as a coach to learning how to work with the many emotional and maturity states that you can find a middle schooler in. God has definitely been good to us and helped watch over Scott and I as we work with the students. This week we had one of our students collapse after a game and need to be taken to the hospital for some treatment. Thankfully the students was just dehydrated and needed to work on eating better foods and more of them. We are also thankful for the safety God gave Scott and our student as they went to the hospital and back and for safety as I helped get the other teammates home.
Our team has shrunk over the season for a variety of reasons, but last night as we coached them it was exciting to see the guys who have stuck it out and how most of them are really starting to gel as a team. We don’t have as many players as most of our competition but for the most parts our guys are playing their hearts out and starting to really play good basketball. Last night our 7th grade team won their second 7th grade game in a row, which is huge for us.
As our season come to a close over the next week and a half, please pray for Scott and I as we seek to leave a lasting impression on these boys that will hopefully lead them to Christ. Pray that opportunities to share Christ verbally will occur and that in every situation our lives will reflect the love of Christ to our boys. And lastly, thank you so much for all your prayers over the course of this season!
